Scammed 20k
Yesterday i was Scammed 20k,
I started when i was trying to buy an Amulet of the Mists. I was in the Kaineng Center for about 2hours and then he said he had one but he was laggin and had to make the trade quikcly. first time we traded it was there and he canceled, the same goes for the 3-5 times and on the 6th time get put in a shimmering scale Necklace. i was gutted Im normaly such a fair trader very low prices and now what do i get for being nice...SCAMMED. Now i thought how do i report such things. i tried to conact him but he had gone offline and was happy to have scammed 20k. people in my guild said it was the oldest scamm in the book, so i think this isnt the first time hes done it.i did a search on goolge under this name and found that he had an account here. So i'd just like to, thnaks for reading this post any advise on this matter would be welcomed P.S i have a screenshot but dont know how to add it Last edited by scott brokenshire; Aug 13, 2006 at 11:03 AM // 11:03.. |

Take his name out, or this thing will be closed.
You have fallen to a very common scam, and well, I hate to say it, but it was your own fault for falling for something like that. |

If you managed to get a screenshot of him scamming you, write up a support ticket and give them the evidence. If not, then you're pretty much out of luck.

your screens would have to show you agreed on a Amulete of Mists as well, not just the "You traded 20K for crappy item" bit of text, otherwise I doubt youd stand a chance.

Nice exp makosi by the way. S
Speaking of scamming. The funniest thing i ever saw was about 7 months ago in droks. I looked down at the text and someone had said, "[So and So] IS A SCAMMER HE ASKED FOR MY MONEY AND I GAVE IT TOO HIM AND HE SAID THANK YOU" lolol i about crapped my pants. |

it happens, i've played the game for 9 months now and know pretty much all the common scams.
That didn't stop me from getting 28g for 4 ecto, I've submitted a support ticket on the person but there is nothing much you can do. They do generally cancel and modify trades though, in my case he put 29k, then changed it to 19k and then to 28g. I dont really care that much, if they can go so low for some superflous item so be it... Last edited by Alperuzi; Aug 14, 2006 at 01:39 PM // 13:39.. |

Wow, that sucks large man but they are out there and you need to be carefull.
I have 2 words of advice for you on this. 1st there are tell tale signs of a scam, and "I'm having Bad Lag" is a BIG one. Other include, I'm carying too much gold I need to dump some in storage etc. You need to be even more carefull on big ticket trades (over your personal holding limit) where you need to do the trade in 2 leggs. I usually recomend taking their armour as colatoral. You can't do much with it but they are screwed without it. 2nd thing, FRAPS! Fraps is an easy to use vid capture program. There are a few other. I usually invite the trader into a team channel and then mute all the others. I tell them, I am going to record this transaction. And then I recap the trade. All while recording. That way in the event that someone does try to scam me I have it all on tape. And the vid is a lot clearer than a series of pictures. People who trade a lot don't mind, because they know scammers are out there. People who scam usually get pissed but then again you want them pissed so that they go away. Just my advice. |

That too much gold excuse is not a scam IMO, well not all scammers will use that excuse. Like myself, sometimes I do carry too much gold and I would have to go to a rare mat trader to purchase a few ectos to complete a transaction. There is really nothing you can do when you are at 1.8Mil with 8 char slots.

I should have been clearer, the too much gold thing isn't always a scam, sure it happens to people because of the gold cap. But it is Also a scamming technique. I've seen it.
Heck, even lagg happens to people from time to time, that's why I don't trade at all in House Zu Lagster. |
